Review: miWorld Playsets by Jakks Pacific

miWorld

Remember Jakks Pacific? They had the license for making WWF/E wrestling figures and playsets for years. The line of so called "Grapple Gear" made for the line was some of best diorama fodder ever created, in my humble opinion. Well they came back the last couple of years with a line of girl toy playsets called miWorld (pronounced "My World"), "the only line of super realistic miniatures that allows kids to build, collect, connect, display, and play in all the trendiest stores and mall spots." In other words, fully licensed, real world branded, store playsets in 1:12 playscale! Perfect for action figures!

For the adult collector these sets are like magic! Just look at the mayhem that can occur!

The sets come in two varieties, "starter sets" and "deluxe sets." The starter sets are 8" x 8" x 8" cubes with a floor and two walls. They are designed to be modular so the third wall will formed by the next store you add. you also get a thin support so you can add a floor above if you choose. The deluxe sets contain basically the material of two starter sets... in other words they are double wide with 4 sets of walls.

Each set comes with lots of little accessories like food, drinks, tables, and chairs. The deluxe sets even include a little shop keeper figure.

The only real gripe I have with these sets are the decal stickers. They have to applied and don't stick worth a toot! Especially to curved surfaces like cups! I ended up have to re-enforce the stickers with scotch tape.

The line seems to be wrapping up though. I found some of my sets at TRU on sale two for one! However on eBay they are going for outrageous unreasonable prices.
