1. Who are you?
Just an old Gen-Xer with a lot feelings of nostalgia.
2. What is this all about?
I like lots of stuff: classic pulp heroes, fantasy role-playing games, toys, Sea-Monkeys®... So, I decided to make a blog showcasing some of my favorites things.
3. Do you really like all that stuff?
No, I enjoy wasting my time posting about stuff I hate</sarcasm>... Certainly I really like all this stuff!
4. Do you have a life?
Life? I never have figured out whether that is a breakfast cereal or a board game... Maybe it's a magazine... I dunno.
5. Are you insane?
Probably...
6. Did you do all this yourself?
Mostly. Its just easier to do my own coding by hand, that way I can make the page look and act exactly how I want it to.
7. What HTML editor do you use?
At one time I exclusively used Notepad, the text editor that comes with Windows. I learned to hand code
because at the time every HTML editing applications I attempted to use created the most mangled code
imaginable. I could even put my own hand code into one of these things and it would mangle the most
beautiful, compliant code into non-compliant trash. So,I gave up and continued to hand code with a
text editor. Eventually, I have found an HTML editor that works just like a text editor, yet has all
the tools needed to make HTML coding easier. It does exactly what I want it too and it doesn't add or
replace code like other editors tend to do. This editor is called
Arachnophilia and if you do any HTML coding,
I urge you check it out.
8. Well I use ____ and I can do blah blah blah...
So? I bet it will mangle my pretty code and besides, I actually like coding by hand.
9. Where do you get your pictures?
I either take them myself or I do like everyone else and steal them from Google Images.
10. Can I use your images?
I don't really care, but it would be nice if you gave me some credit and link back. Download them and upload them to your
own service, don't hotlink to them.
11. What is hotlinking?
Hotlinking is another name for bandwidth theft. Basically it is direct linking to a website's files (images, video, etc.).
For example, putting the whole url of an image inside of an <IMG> tag to display a JPEG image on someone else's
site so it will appear on your own site, journal, weblog, forum posting, etc.
Bandwidth refers to the amount of data transferred from a website to a user's computer. When you view a webpage, you
are using that site's data transfer to display the files. Most web hosts charge based on the amount of data transferred,
bandwidth is an issue. Sometimes if a site is over it's monthly bandwidth, it's billed for the extra data or taken
offline.
A simple analogy for bandwidth theft: Imagine a random stranger plugging into your electrical outlets, using your
electricity without your consent, and you paying for it.
12. What image manipulation software do you use?
13. Where did you learn to do all this?
I taught myself. At first I looked at the code of others and created simple pages. Then I went and got a book on HTML.
I learned a lot just trying to get my pages to validate with W3C standards. I am still learning.
14. What web browser is this site intended for?
Any... The one you are using.
15. What web browser do you use?
I use Firefox personally, but I test on Chrome, Edge, Opera and even Lynx (a text only browser).
16. What web browser do you recommend?
I don't recommend any one browser to you. You go out and try different browsers until you find one you like.
17. Has your blog ever received any awards?
Yes this is an award winning blog! Look at all these prestigious web awards that I gave to the blog...
18. Those awards aren't even real!
Why not? Just because I gave them to myself doesn't make them any less valid than all the other meaningless
site awards infesting the web. Oh by the way, you just won them too. Feel free to take the images and put them
on your own site.
19. How often do you post?
At least once every week. And by "once every week," I really mean "when I get a chance." And by "when
I get a chance," I really mean never.
20. Ads all over your blog!? So, you finally sold out, huh?
No. Those are nostalgia ads. They are meant to be like the old comic books ads from back in the day,
such as the old Charles Atlas body building course, and add to the ambiance of the site. If you
don't want to see them, then just hide them with an ad blocking utility. If you use Firefox,
Adblock Plus will do the job.
