Monster Scenes Store Display

In 2008 Moebius Models premiered their "Monster Scenes" line-up, long-awaited re-issues of six of Aurora's* notorious Monster Scenes kits from 1971, including the elusive "Giant Insect". To help launch the exciting series, Moebius also produced a highly limited carboard fold-up store display and three professionally pre-painted models featuring Dr. Deadly, The Victim and the Giant Insect. The display and three pre-painted kits were only offered to Moebius model distributors at the time, and sold through rather quickly.

The only thing changed about this one was the insects eyes were painted along with the bases for Victim and Dr. Deadly.

*Back in 1971, Aurora (the company that created the model figure nearly 20 years before) announced something new - Monster Scenes - a line of four fiendish figures and four awesome environments to display them upon, giving modelers the opportunity to create their own scenarios, and customize the kits to build their own dioramas. Monsters, mad labs, torturous devices, and scantily clad women were all produced in plastic, delighting a new generation of fans. Yet sadly, Aurora's new line saw an extremely short lifespan, as these harmless hobby kits were deemed "sadistic, violent, and emotionally disturbing" by concerned groups of angry American women who protested their production - and rather aggressively. Soon, Aurora's Monster Scenes were axed, and the entire line discontinued permanently. Also of note is that Aurora's "Giant Insect" was never released in America, but saw only a brief period of distribution in Canada.
