Nia Jax

I have to admit that I dig Nia Jax... a lot! Right now she is hands down my favorite of all the current women wrestlers on the WWE roster. Currently she is being presented as a monster heel, but that just makes me cheer her on more and hope that one day she becomes the Womens Champion. Last night at the Royal Rumble she defeated Sasha Banks. While Sasha is great wrestler, her "legit boss" gimmick is getting a bit tiring.

Nia Jax (real name Savelina Fanene), standing 6' tall and weighing in at 240 lbs., was born May 29, 1984 in Honolulu, HI. 32 year old Jax is a cousin of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, making her a member of the famous AnoaŹ»i wrestling family. Her grandfather and The Rock's great grandmother were brother and sister. Jax played college basketball while attending Palomar College in California, where she has also worked as both a bodybuilder and a model.

Jax, after having attended WrestleMania 28 (April 2012) and watching The Rock's main event defeat of John Cena, was encouraged by The Rock's mother Ata Johnson to try out for pro wrestling. She was eventually signed to WWE in 2014 and debuted on NXT in 2015 under the ringname Zada. Later that year her name was changed to Nia Jax. In 2016 after being drafted from NXT to Monday Night RAW,  she spent much of her time being presented as a monster heel, destroying local talents and jobbers in one-sided squash matches. That is until recently, when she has taken on and defeated both Alicia Fox and Bayley. She has been in a feud with Banks since December when Banks' distraction caused Jax to lose a match against Bayley. Last night Jax took on Banks during the Royal Rumble 2017 Kickoff Preshow. You can watch that match below:
